Crohn's Disease Information
Crohn's disease is a progressive disease of the gastro-intestinal tract that is considered an autoimmune disorder.  It’s related to ulcerative colitis in that they both involve heavy inflammation of the GI tract, but where ulcerative colitis always targets the colon, Crohn’s disease can target any part of the GI tract from the mouth to the anus.  Typically, Crohn’s disease only affects areas of the large intestine.  Because Crohn’s disease is most commonly associated with the large intestine, the most common symptoms are diahrea or constipation, and abdominal pain and cramping.

Colon Cancer Symptoms
Colon cancer is the second most common cancer in the United States, and causes over 50,000 deaths in the country each year; which is about as many American soldiers that died in the entire Vietnam conflict.  This is an especially tragic and frustrating fact because the majority of the deaths caused by colon cancer could have been prevented.

Ulcerative Colitis
Ulcerative colitis is a condition in which a portion of the colon becomes inflamed.  The colon is the area of the lower intestine that connects to the rectum, and serves as a storage area for digestive waste material prior to exiting the body via the anus.  Ulcerative colitis usually effects the left portion of the colon, in a form called ‘distal colitis’, however it can affect the whole colon in a form called ‘pancolitis’.  A similar condition affecting the rectum is called ulcerative ‘proctitis’.

Hepatitis C Information
Many people have Hepatitis C and don’t even know it; by the time they start showing symptoms, significant damage to the liver has already occurred. Hepatitis C information is available from a number of  online sources, and since it is a fairly new form of hepatitis, facts and misconceptions are common points of discussion, so that the public can become educated. According to www.hepctherapy.net, almost 30% of the American population who have this chronic disease, have absolutely no idea how they got it. Information on Hepatitis C discusses the most common ways people contract it, what symptoms may be present, if any, treatment options, and how to live with it. Hepatitis C information describes how the body’s immune system is just unable to fight the virus, and how over time, the liver loses it’s ability to function properly.

Certified Nurses Aide
Healthcare is a huge business and there is a growing need to fill positions for physicians, nurses (RNs and LPNs), medical technicians, and certified nurses aides (CNAs), as well as other licensed and technical positions. Colleges and universities that offer health science degrees have long waiting lists of students that are pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, radiography, and other health related fields. Certified nurses aide classes are also full. Certain institutions will provide training to students in exchange for their commitment to remain at the facility for a certain amount of time after they have received their CNA certification. This is a very popular option.

Gestational Diabetes
Gestational diabetes occurs in women who are not diabetic prior to pregnancy, but who develop insulin resistance during their pregnancy. Women who develop gestational diabetes are unable to produce enough insulin for their bodies. Since not enough insulin is available to convert the glucose in the blood stream into energy for the body, the glucose levels increase causing hyperglycemia. This can be a serious condition if it goes undiagnosed and untreated. If the pregnant woman is seeking appropriate prenatal care, her health care practitioner is checking for glucose in the urine routinely, and some perform a finger stick as well.
